Cesar Millan Light Show

2013 was a banner year for Extreme Lightscapes in all sorts of ways. It was a long and arduous install season. Just as I thought all the traveling and installation was finishing up – in fact, I was on what I thought would be my last day at our final installation in Houston, Texas – I received a call from Jahira (Cesar’s other half) who promptly put Cesar on the phone. He wanted to do a light ship for a VIP Christmas party at their home in Studio City, California. Well, We are big fans of Cesar so I had to find a way to help them out. I took all of the materials we had left in stock, purchased a few more, shipped a couple of pallets to LA, designed a show on the fly including a fountain of light feature and complete the programming – all in less than 2 weeks. I flew to LA 2 weeks before Christmas and spent a week with Cesar, his family and friends (the pack!); all of whom pitched in to make it all work. Cesar, as it turns out, is a Christmas light fanatic. In fact all of the lights on the roof and the house were installed by Cesar and his business manager, Bob. Cesar’s brother, Eric, had a great eye and was able to help execute my vision for the small trees in the front yard with great precision. Bob is a Halloween decorating fanatic so is very familiar with DIY techniques – which came in very handy for helping tweak the fountain design. The display wasn’t large at all in terms of all the bigger projects we do. But it was by far the most fun I have ever had on the job. Cesar and his team are genuine, good people who I came to know, enjoy and be inspired by. We talked about doing a bit light show out at the DPC ranch one of these days. I would love to see that become a reality and I keep poking Cesar about the idea every so often. We’ll see!
